Our realtor said that the first day out looking at houses is typically described by confusion. We decided that it's actually scary. One house had a great floorplan! But it was obviously neglected and the people didn't bother moving out a lot of their stuff: half a bed in a couple rooms, random junk all over, weeds throughout the backyard, a fence that was falling over... Another house that we saw right before that was really nice too. If a water heater in a bedroom closet is safe or up to code then we'll go back to that house another day. I also happily noticed that the bullet hole in one window came from a shot inside the home rather than outside.
A different house was fairly interesting and was one that I thought I could live with as long as we painted all of the cabinets in the den to a white or cream color. It honestly looked like we had traveled into a dark cabin for that portion of the house haha. The idea of living there ran away as soon as I opened up a closet door and by doing so opened up the air vent for the AC. The air vents were on the floor for this house. Honestly, there was a huge open air vent by opening that door and the air filter was in the door! The first thing I saw was a little kid crawling in there and decided no way. Tim and our realtor suggested just putting a high lock on the door. Knowing the kid I was, that lock would not stop anyone unless that door was never opened or held anything inside.
The white house, as we lovingly nicknamed it, was the one we were most excited to go and look at. It was the most emaculate, taken care of, fixed up house we looked at that day. The loft upstairs was definitely small but oh so cute and it had the shelves built into the walls which I love that are typical of older homes! Is there a but? Oh yes there is, the previous owners had put doors up everywhere!! One room had two doors in a row to get into it... The rooms were also not clearly defined (we didn't know if we were in a bedroom or another part of the house), the master had doors into three other rooms, and the house wound around everywhere. If it weren't for the confusion and undefined room space then we probably would've jumped on it.
We don't think that we found our house in that first day, but we weren't really expecting that to happen either since we only looked at a handful. Hopefully this next time won't be so scary! In the meantime, we've been able to get some more things at Ecuaco updated, taken care of, however you want to describe it. My Uncle Rawlin recently underwent surgery for his heart and has moved to Utah to live with his daughter rather than living the bachelor lifestyle. Since Daddy Blake had gone up to be with him until my cousin came to town, we were able to ask for his table and chairs (most of which ended up being computer chairs). We're now returning Grampa's card table to him. We'll miss eating dinner picnic style when we invite friends over, but it's good to have a real table especially when little ones come into the picture.
The leaf isn't in yet because the apartment space won't fit it, so that will wait until we relocate. We also found some chairs at Ikea that we plan on eventually getting because even with the computer chairs we won't have enough to go around the table with the leaf in. Plus these chairs are only $20. The only problem is that our local Ikea does not currently have it... We'll have to keep looking. Thanks for tuning into this super long post and we send our love to you!

Love those chairs! They are so pretty. Sean and I ordered a new table set and will be getting next week I hope! Finding a house sounds adventurous.
